【The World’s First Cosplay Technique Certification Organization】
The World Cosplay Art Association is the first global certification body for cosplay skills. Our mission is to promote cosplay, a cultural and artistic expression originating from Japan, both within the country and internationally.
Vision
1. Creating a society where anyone can become who they want to be through cosplay
Cosplay is a form of self-expression that allows anyone to easily transform into their desired characters, whether it’s an anime hero or a beloved game character.
The thrill of embodying those characters is something that resonates with anyone who has experienced cosplay.
Even casual experiences, like Halloween makeup or playing as an avatar of a different gender in online games, offer a taste of stepping into a new persona. We created this association to introduce more people to the joy of cosplay.
2. Increasing the number of people who make a career out of cosplay
Another goal of our association is to help more people turn cosplay into a profession. While many may think of professional cosplayers who are active in media, there are other ways to build a career in cosplay. For example:
- Makeup artists can expand their skill sets by learning cosplay-specific techniques.
- Costume and prop makers can design and sell outfits, armor, and weapons.
- Photographers can create stunning works of art by capturing the world of cosplay.
With the growing recognition of cosplay, we want to support all forms of cosplay professionals, not just cosplayers, to expand the possibilities for careers in this field.

Message from the Director
Hello, I’m Akira Konomi, a professional cosplayer.
Since graduating from school, I’ve been working in the cosplay industry.
Back when I was in middle school, cosplay was seen as a strange hobby by society, and I would secretly make costumes in my closet.
However, as Japanese anime culture gained recognition globally, so did cosplay.
The World Cosplay Art Association was born from the collective passion of my fellow cosplayers.
I hope our certifications and Spell Book inspire you to dive deeper into the world of cosplay. Let’s enjoy cosplay together!
